Vai trò của fluor nói chung, nước súc miệng fluor nói riêng trong dự phòng và điều trị sâu răng ngày càng được hiểu rõ và khẳng định những đóng góp của fluor trong việc làm hạ thấp tỷ lệ và mức độ trầm trọng của sâu răng trên toàn cầu. Tuy nhiên, việc áp dụng các biện pháp sử dụng fluor dự phòng bệnh sâu răng ở nước ta chủ yếu mới triển khai ở lứa tuổi học đường và còn nhiều hạn chế, đặc biệt với đối tượng là người cao tuổi. Chúng ta cũng chưa có nghiên cứu nào tổng quát về tình trạng bệnh răng miệng và dự phòng bệnh răng miệng bằng nước súc miệng Fluor 0,2% ở NCT. Nghiên cứu của chúng tôi bổ sung cho khoảng trống trong bức tranh chung về tình trạng bệnh răng miệng cũng như dự phòng bệnh răng miệng của người cao tuổi.. Đây là một nghiên cứu đầu tiên ở khu vực miền núi phía Tây Bắc và là một trong ít những nghiên cứu chuyên biệt của NCT Việt Nam có cỡ mẫu tương đối lớn và đưa ra tổng thể về thực trạng BRM của NCT. Trên cơ sở thực trạng BRM đề tài đưa ra được nhu cầu điều trị dựa trên thực trạng BRM của NCT. Dựa trên nghiên cứu định tính nghiên cứu còn đưa ra được một số yếu tố liên quan đến bệnh răng miệng NCT. Bằng biện pháp đơn giản dễ thực hiện tại cộng đồng đó là sử dụng nước súc miệng Fluor 0,2% cùng với giáo dục nha khoa phòng chống bệnh răng miệng, nghiên cứu đã cho thấy hiệu quả của loại nước súc miệng này có hiệu quả cao mặc dù thời gian nghiên cứu chưa dài, tỷ lệ răng sâu mới thấp, tỷ lệ mất răng giảm hơn, thay đổi kiến thức, thái độ, thực hành chăm sóc sức khỏe răng miệng theo hướng tích cực. Trên cơ sở của nghiên cứu chúng tôi có thể đề xuất sử dụng nước xúc miệng có Fluor 0,2% dự phòng bệnh sâu răng cho người cao tuổi tại cộng đồng.. The role of fluoride in general, and of the fluoride mouthwash in particular, has become more highlighted through effects of fluoride in reducing incidence and seriousness of dental caries over the world. However, application fluoride in dental caries prevention in Vietnam has just been confined among schools with many limitations, especially for the elderly. There has been not a comprehensive research on oral and dental disease situation and prevention by fluoride 0,2% for the elderly. Our research is an effort to fill the gap of the general picture of oral and dental disease situation, as well as prevention of oral and dental disease for the elderly.. This is the first research conducted in northwest mountainous area of Vietnam, and one of the rare works specialized in the elderly in Vietnam with a rather big sample size, and providing an insight of elderly oral and dental disease situation. Based on oral and dental disease situation reveal oral and dental disease treatment need of the elderly. Based on qualitative research we also provide some elements related to elderly dental disease. Suggest simple and easy solution of fluoride 0,2% mouthwash together with popular oral and dental healthcare education. The research also prove high effectiveness of this kind of mouthwash regardless short period of research in reducing dental caries rate and tooth missing rate, improving knowledge, attitude, and practice of oral and dental healthcare.
