Vai trò của fluor nói chung, Gel fluor nói riêng trong dự phòng và điều trị sâu răng ngày càng được hiểu rõ và khẳng định những đóng góp của fluor trong việc làm hạ thấp tỷ lệ và mức độ trầm trọng của sâu răng trên toàn cầu. Tuy nhiên, việc áp dụng các biện pháp sử dụng fluor dự phòng bệnh sâu răng ở nước ta còn nhiều hạn chế, đặc biệt với đối tượng là người cao tuổi. Chúng ta cũng chưa có nghiên cứu nào tổng quát về tình trạng bệnh răng miệng và dự phòng sâu răng bằng gel fluor ở NCT cũng như mô tả quá trình khoáng hóa của fluor vào men-ngà răng người cao tuổi trên thực nghiệm. Nghiên cứu của chúng tôi cung cấp bằng chứng về mảng trống trong bức tranh chung về dự phòng sâu răng trên người cao tuổi.. Nghiên cứu của chúng tôi đã cung cấp các bằng chứng khoa học đáng tin cậy dựa trên thiết kế nghiên cứu khoa học và kỹ thuật thu thập thông tin chính xác. Trong đó nghiên cứu thực nghiệm đã chứng minh tác dụng tái khoáng hóa men răng, ngà răng của gel fluor 1,23% trên răng người cao tuổi. Nghiên cứu mô tả cắt ngang đã mô tả thực trạng bệnh sâu răng và một số yếu tố liên quan tới bệnh sâu răng ở người cao tuổi tại địa phương nghiên cứu. Nghiên cứu can thiệp đã chứng minh hiệu quả dự phòng sâu răng của gel fluor 1,23% trên người cao tuổi tại cộng đồng. Đây là nghiên cứu đầu tiên của Việt Nam sử dụng phương pháp áp gel fluor (sử dụng fluor tại chỗ) dự phòng bệnh sâu răng cho đối tượng này. Trên cơ sở kết quả của nghiên cứu, chúng tôi đề xuất sử dụng gel fluor (NaF 1,23%) dự phòng bệnh sâu răng cho người cao tuổi tại cộng đồng.. Function of fluoride, in general, and fluoride gel, in particular, in prevention and treatment of dental caries and its usefulness in reducing incidence and seriousness have been known and emphasized more and more worldwide. Application of fluoride in dental caries prevention in our country, however, retains many limitations, especially for the elderly. there has not been any systematic research on dental caries status and fluoride gel application in dental caries prevention for the elderly, and emulating enamel and dentin flour-mineralized process in the elders through empirical experiment. Our study provide evidence for the gap of general picture of elderly dental caries prevention.. Our study has provided reliant scientific evidence based on scientific and technical research designs which focus on collecting exact information. In which the empirical research has proved enamel and dentin remineralization ability of fluoride gel 1.23% for elderly teeth. The cross-sectional descriptive research has described status of dental caries and some elderly dental caries related issues in the research place. The intervention research has prove dental caries prevention performance of fluoride gel 1.23% for the elderly in question. This has been the first research in Vietnam using fluoride gel applying method (directly applying fluoride on the effected area) for dental caries prevention for the research objects.
