Những kết luận mới của luận án: . 1. Sàng lọc người mang gen bệnh thalassemia rất cần thiết, qua sàng lọc sẽ phát hiện được những cặp vợ chồng có nguy cơ cao sinh con mắc bệnh thalassemia. Phụ nữ có thai có hồng cầu nhỏ với chỉ số thể tích trung bình hồng cầu MCV nhỏ hơn 80fL và/hoặc hồng cầu nhược sắc với chỉ số huyết sắc tố trung bình hồng cầu MCH nhỏ hơn 28pg cần được tư vấn làm xét nghiệm chẩn đoán bệnh thalassemia cho hai vợ chồng.. 2. Chẩn đoán trước sinh cho thai nên được tiến hành khi hai vợ chồng mang gen bệnh thalassemia có nguy cơ di truyền sinh con mắc bệnh thalassemia thể nặng. Chẩn đoán trước sinh bệnh thalassemia đã đưa ra những kết quả chính xác về kiểu gen của thai, giúp các bác sĩ tư vấn về bệnh tật và giải pháp sản khoa cho thai phụ và gia đình. Những trường hợp thai phụ có tiền sử phù thai hoặc siêu âm chẩn đoán phù thai cần được chẩn đoán trước sinh bệnh α-thalassemia.. 3.
